Valentine’s day with early language learners (babies, preschoolers, and toddlers) is so much fun! Ahh, who am I kidding? All holidays are fun with this age group! In this blog post, we are going to talk about a set of activities that keep my little friends engaged and increase early communication skills! I’m talking about- Preschool Valentine’s Day Printables! This is a prep it once and use it over and over again resource (with, of course, the exception of the Valentine’s Day worksheets!)
The first thing I want to tell you about this resource- it’s designed with early language learners in mind. The purpose of this resource is to encourage the development of early communication skills. Early language concepts included are: vocabulary activities (including -ing verbs, early prepositions, and descriptions) matching colors, and activities for learning shapes. These concepts are presented in a variety of formats including: interactive books, printable activities, and matching activities.
Also included are activities to increase talking in toddlers! Like I’ve talked about before, toddlers progress through developmental phonological errors. Occasionally, they need a little extra encouragement to increase their speech skills – this resource has you covered! CV, VC, CVC words, and multiple syllable word smash mats are perfect for keeping little hands busy (fine motor skills practice) and providing opportunities for word production! CVC and multiple syllable words are also built in throughout for extra practice. Increase utterances using the color activities (red heart, blue heart), practice describing and verbs with the shapes activity – (the bear is holding an orange triangle), and expose little learners to their concepts!
Social Emotional Skills
These preschool Valentine’s Day printables wouldn’t be complete without opportunities for increasing early social skills! Practice early social emotional development using printable Valentine’s Day Cards!
So cute, right?
Preschool Language Development
In addition to toddler language and toddler talking, you can also use these preschool Valentine’s Day printables with other language learners. Concepts like learning colors, identifying shapes, prepositions, and verbs. Also included are more advanced language concepts including: categorizing, same/different, finish the pattern, following directions, and simple sentence comprehension activities.
Practice early scissors skills and encourage fine motor development with printable worksheets while encouraging writing skills with tracing activities.
Build it and they will Communicate
The best part about this resource is the minimal prep it requires. Print the activities once, put them in page protectors, laminate the small pieces, and put them a binder! Keeping pieces together is easy! After they are laminated, store them with their matching page. I keep everything together in a 1/2 inch binder and put extra copies of the worksheets in page protectors so they are always easy to grab and ready-to-go! The interactive vocabulary books also come with their own system for easy clean up and storage.
Make Valentine’s Day engaging and provide multiple opportunities for early language development with these preschool Valentine’s Day printables- you can find them in my TPT store, here! Only interested in the vocabulary books? You can purchase those along with the printable worksheets here!
